All of the following are
included with admission to the show unless otherwise noted.
The Hawg Trough
Few rarely get a first hand underwater glimpse of a fish taking a
lure. The Hawg Trough affords just that opportunity. This 50’ long
8’ high glass-sided 5,000 gallon aquarium is stocked with lunker
Bass. A Bass Fishing Pro stands high atop the tank on a mock-up of
the bow of a bass boat and casts his lure into the tank. The crowd
looking on can understand retrieval techniques employed to get the
big boys to hit and actually see it happen before their eyes. It has
been many years since the show tank has visited Traverse City and
now a whole new generation of fishers can gain an underwater view of
fishing.
Locked
Antler Display
Ron Foss has been collecting rare locked deer antler sets
for 33 years. Over that time he has amassed a very incredible
collection. Surreal is a better way to describe the feeling one gets
when standing amongst his array of locked Whitetail and Mule deer
racks. While he shows only a portion of his collection at one time –
usually the largest sets, some of Foss’s deer measure in the 170’s
class. The pieces are preserved in their natural state with skulls
attached and some of the sets are valued well into the five digit
figure. Fighting deer rarely lock horns permanently but when they do
they ultimately succumb to their fate. Once discovered some find
their way in the hands of a very rare breed of individuals committed
to immortalizing these oddities of nature forever. This is truly a
rare opportunity to be amazed in further realizing the cruel irony
nature can inflict.
Trout Pond sponsored by Grand Traverse Area Sport Fishing
Association
The Trout Pond is back thanks to the fine folks at GTASFA. Kids love
it and for some it’s their first and sometimes only opportunity to
thrill in the time honored American tradition of catching a fish. A
rite of passage no less significant than learning to ride a bike.
Prices for fishing; $5.00 1 child, $8.00 for 2 children, and $10.00
per family. All children will be allotted 5 minutes to fish. One
fish limit per child. No age limit.
